Where to wash your bike

A bicycle is a relatively small and light vehicle. You can wash it in several ways:

at home. In warmer months, it is best to wash your bike outdoors. Most often, owners prefer to do this in the yard or on the site near the garage. You can carry out such a procedure even at home, in the bathroom, but this method is less convenient because then you will have to spend time putting things in order in the room;
at the car wash. Is it possible to use the services of a self-service car wash? If you don't have a suitable place to wash your bike, this is a great solution. Using special equipment, you will quickly remove the large layer of dirt that inevitably appears on the wheels when driving off-road in the off-season. But be careful: high water pressure can damage the bike components.

detergent;
degreaser;
grease;
brushes;
soft rags and sponges.

Outside the city, you can use mini-washers Bike Chain Quick Clean Tool Brushes with water intake from the tank. They do not need a water connection, just fill the tank with water. Pay attention to compact models of sinks equipped with a rechargeable battery. You can use them at any convenient moment, even far from civilization.

Washing steps for Bicycle Wash & Cleaners

Removal of contamination. Dissolve the detergent in water and apply it to the frame and wheels. If there is heavy dirt, you can first remove the chain, wheels, derailleurs, brakes and put the bike on the fork and handlebar. Most of the dirt can be removed with a high-pressure washer that delivers detergent so you don't have to apply it by hand. Then rinse off the foam with clean water and, if necessary, repeat the procedure. When using a pressure washer, follow the recommendations: the nozzle of the gun must be at least 30 cm from the surface. Do not clean delicate surfaces with a dirt remover.

Cleaning of parts and mechanisms. The chain is cleaned in longitudinal movements using a brush or a special tool. Remove dirt from shifters and brake pads with a soft cloth without the use of abrasive products. Old dirt and grease from the sprockets are removed by hand with a delicate detergent.

Final processing. After washing, thoroughly dry all elements and parts and reattach them. Wipe the saddle, frame, wings with soft suede. Lightly lubricate the outside of the bushings and carriages, chains,s, and sprockets. Use modern compounds that are resistant to moisture, then the bike parts will last as long as possible. Leave the bike for a few hours to allow the grease to penetrate the mechanism, then wipe off the excess with a dry cloth.
